AT SCHILD ESTATE YOU CAN STILL SHAKE HANDS WITH FAMILY MEMBERS FROM THREE GENERATIONS WHO HAVE BECOME THE FAMILYS HEART.Schild Estate wines are created with authenticity and passion. From real earth in the Southern Barossa by generations of a family who have made that place their home.Schild Estates approach to making Chardonnay starts with site selection and vineyard location. It focuses on utilising altitude and the cooler locations of the Barossa Valley to provide acid backbone and tautness along with lower lying valley floor sites to bring fresh intense fruit flavours to the mix. This delicate balancing act is then supported in this particular style through techniques such as lees stirring to provide texture and body. The goal is to deliver wines that are refreshing with natural fruit flavours at their core and that provide interest to the drinker.Winemakers NotesThe 2013 growing season was a warmer and drier year than average in the Barossa Valley. Block selection and the use of cooler air at elevation along with prudent handling of the harvested fruit was crucial to reduce phenolic and tannin influence with the aim of the winemakers being to retain freshness and direction in the juice.Colour: Pale Straw.Bouquet: Varietally strong with fragrant notes of white floral blossom, delicate peach and subtle stone fruits.Palate: A generous up front fruit presence keeps working deep through the palate where it is aided and supported by some tell tale varietal nuttiness, a vibrant natural grape acid frame and a clean mineral finish.Cellaring: Drink to 2019Winemakers: Scott Hazeldine and Alex MacClelland
